A pair of slate and granite cottages probably dating to the 18th century. They are unique to Sileby due to the builders having used slate 'waste' as the main building material. During the early part of the 20th century the cottages were owned by the Gibbs family.

Joseph Porter and his wife Hannah seemed to have lived here the longest. They are listed at the cottages in the 1881 census. After Joseph's death in 1918 Hannah continued to live in the property until her own demise age 93 in 1948. In all, they had occupied the house for at least 67 years.
